Hsinchu, Taiwan, January 21, 2026 - Joining its fellow sites in Kunshan, Vietnam, and Tainan, WNC's S1 site in Hsinchu has achieved the UL 2799 Platinum rating, the highest tier for zero waste to landfill performance. This milestone marks the successful certification of all WNC's major production sites worldwide, underscoring the company’s dedication to waste reduction.
The waste management strategy at our S1 site has gradually transitioned from recycling to material regeneration, creating greater circular economy value. For instance, WNC utilizes plastic pelletizing technology to transform used corrugated boards and carrier tape into high-quality regenerative raw materials. It repurposes used anti-static clothing into functional items such as coat hangers, phone holders, and plastic sheets. By transforming waste in innovative ways, the company is giving a second life to materials that would have been discarded. Furthermore, WNC has established a comprehensive internal reuse mechanism. For durable materials such as stencil boards, waste liquid containers and wooden pallets, the company prioritizes on-site reutilization. This approach significantly reduces our waste volume and minimizes the need for new procurement. WNC has also extended its sustainability influence across its supply chain. Through close collaboration, it has enabled vendors to transform organic liquid waste and sludge, which require specialized treatment, into controlled low strength materials (CLSM). By fostering partnerships, we ensure that these materials are repurposed for construction projects, reducing environmental impact and building a sustainable ecosystem.
WNC's S3 site, which also earned certification last year, has implemented a wooden pallet reuse program. By returning intact, surplus pallets to shipping partners, the site has established a circular economy model within its logistics operations. In addition, the site utilizes a dual-track approach of on-site control and off-site guidance to conduct source traceability management, and plan waste removal. It also collaborates with partners to convert used PCB shielding covers, foam, and paper carrier tape into sawdust, recycled pellets, and recycled pulp. At our Vietnam site, we conducted facility-wide interviews and reviewed all relevant workflows to map waste streams and identify opportunities to improve resource circulation. Our Kunshan sites partnered with 18 waste treatment providers to formalize its zero waste to landfill commitment. By implementing rigorous end-of-life sorting, we have lowered the proportion of incinerated waste and transformed it into recycled resources. In addition, the site has strengthened internal waste sorting protocols to achieve waste reduction at the source.
WNC believes that effective waste management is rooted in source reduction and value creation. By leveraging digital platforms for real-time monitoring and waste composition analysis of each process, we optimize production processes and waste reduction measures. This approach has successfully increased our waste diversion rates while lowering resource consumption and waste disposal costs. Building on our zero waste to landfill success, we will continue to partner with suppliers to drive energy management and carbon reduction, remaining steadfast in our commitment to achieving net zero.
